Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) and the Ministry of Women launched the Women Who Lead initiative, the presentation of scholarships for the Executive Program in Female Leadership aimed at promoting gender equality and economic empowerment in the industry, micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The activity brought together authorities from both institutions, representatives of the business sector, and stakeholders linked to economic development, in a space conceived to promote actions that expand opportunities for training, leadership, innovation, and growth for women, as part of a common agenda aimed at strengthening their economic autonomy and their participation in strategic sectors of the national economy.
The Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Yayo Sanz Lovatón, highlighted that the country’s economic growth requires fully leveraging the talent, innovation capacity, and leadership of women.
He/She pointed out that this alliance strengthens the coordination between both institutions to promote policies that expand female participation in the industry, MSMEs, and the entrepreneurial ecosystem, which in turn generates greater opportunities for national productive development.
For her part, the Minister of Women, Gloria Reyes, stated that economic autonomy constitutes one of the pillars for advancing towards a more egalitarian society and highlighted that the agreement will allow for the expansion of training, leadership, and business development opportunities for women.

He added that initiatives such as Women Who Lead and the Executive Program in Female Leadership reflect the State’s commitment to promoting public policies that strengthen women’s participation in decision-making spaces and in strategic sectors of the economy.
During the activity, Women Who Lead was presented, an initiative conceived to strengthen the leadership capabilities of women with management responsibilities, businesswomen, and entrepreneurs, through training processes, mentoring, and the creation of collaboration networks that contribute to enhancing their professional and business development.
As part of this initiative, scholarships for the Executive Program in Female Leadership were also announced, a specialized training program aimed at strengthening competencies for decision-making, strategic direction, and organizational management, with the purpose of increasing women’s participation in leadership positions within the productive sector.
The day also included the signing of the framework agreement that contemplates joint actions to develop training and capacity-building programs; promote female leadership, innovation, digitalization, and financial education; support women entrepreneurs and women-led businesses; promote access to markets and value chains; generate information and indicators on female participation in the productive sector; and encourage the implementation of the Igualando RD Seal in industrial companies and MSMEs.
Likewise, it provides for the creation of an inter-institutional technical committee to monitor progress and identify new opportunities for cooperation.
