Santo Domingo.– The Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre (ERD), received a delegation from the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) at his official office, led by its Deputy Commander, Lieutenant General Evan Pettus, and Sergeant Major Rafael Rodríguez, Senior Enlisted Leader of the United States Southern Command and a member of the United States of America Marine Corps.
The meeting constituted a space of high strategic value to continue strengthening the mechanisms of cooperation, coordination, and exchange of experiences between the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic and the United States, addressing issues of common interest related to regional security, the development of operational capabilities, the education and training of military personnel, as well as interoperability between both institutions.
During the meeting, the authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continue promoting joint initiatives that contribute to strengthening the preparation, professionalization, and modernization of the Armed Forces, for the benefit of the stability and security of the region.

The visit evidences the excellent level of relations maintained by the Armed Forces of both nations, sustained by decades of cooperation, mutual trust, and shared objectives, consolidating a strategic alliance that has allowed for the development of important training, technical assistance, and professional exchange programs.

Suárez Martínez (FARD); the President of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa (ARD), as well as directors of military units and specialized agencies of the Armed Forces.
