Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Defense held an act of high strategic value at the 16 de Agosto Military Camp, where the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre (ERD), led the delivery of new military equipment to the Dominican Republic Army, received by its commander general, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez (ERD).
The equipment will be assigned to the units of the First Infantry Brigade —First Battalion Juan Pablo Duarte, Second Battalion Francisco del Rosario Sánchez, Third Battalion Matías Ramón Mella— as well as the Commandos Battalion, key units in the national defense and security. This delivery is made in compliance with the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Luis Rodolfo Abinader Corona, supreme authority of the Armed Forces and the National Police, as part of the process of modernization and institutional strengthening of the Armed Forces. The delivered batch includes IWI ARAD 5.56 caliber rifles, Negev 7.62 caliber machine guns intended for patrol and transport platforms, Barrett and Daniel Defense precision rifles, as well as more than 11,000 work uniforms made by the Dominican Military Industry, among other supplies.We recommend reading:
During the activity, the Vice Minister of Defense, as well as the Inspector General of the Armed Forces, were present, along with members of the General Staff and senior military commanders, demonstrating the institutional support for this transformation process. This initiative is part of a strategic vision aimed at consolidating more modern and efficient Armed Forces and with greater response capacity, strengthening the operational readiness of the troops and optimizing their performance in different scenarios. The incorporation of these systems represents a significant advance in terms of technology, operational reliability, and adaptability, which allows units to increase their effectiveness in fulfilling assigned missions. The Ministry of Defense reaffirms with this action its firm commitment to the defense of national sovereignty, the protection of the territory and the well-being of the Dominican population, steadily advancing in the strengthening of its operational capabilities.
