Miss Dominican Republic candidates call for greater inclusion for people with autism

Santo Domingo.– Candidates of the Miss Dominican Republic Universe pageant and figures linked to the organization agreed this Tuesday that the main challenge the country faces regarding autism continues to be the lack of inclusion, while participating in the forum “Knowing, Understanding and Including: The Crown Shines for Autism”, held at Ágora Mall.

The representative of the National District, Elena Izzo Anselmi, valued the initiative promoted by the organization and highlighted the commitment of director Magali Febles to this social cause, considering that these spaces allow for raising awareness among the population about the importance of inclusion.

Representative Valentina Campion stated that these spaces are fundamental for raising public awareness and highlighted that the true value of a candidate goes beyond the competition.

“The true power we have as candidates is to use our voice to raise it in favor of social causes that transform lives. There is a lack of knowledge and that is why we are here, so that people learn to be more empathetic and respectful,” she expressed.

Meanwhile, the representative for San José de Ocoa, Alana Chalas, a pediatric dentist by profession, stated that from her experience working with children with autism, she has confirmed the need to create more opportunities for them to fully integrate into society.
