With the participation of the main actors in the tourism sector, the fourth edition of the 2025 National Tourism Award recognized the most outstanding initiatives that have significantly contributed to the strengthening and projection of national tourism during the last year.
One of the most emotional moments of the event was the nomination for lifetime achievement to three outstanding figures in tourism: Frank Rainieri, a pioneer of tourism development in the region and founder of Punta Cana; Edmundo Aja Flaiter, president of the board of Hoteles Hodelpa and a benchmark in national hotel industry; and Leonardo Wehe, recognized for his business vision and promotion of new tourism business models. The three were honored for their legacy, commitment, and contribution to the sustainable growth of the industry.
The president of the National Tourism Award, Luis Santiago Severino, stated that tourism is not only an economic activity, but also a bridge that unites cultures and "a window to show the world our history, the warmth of our people and the beauty of our landscapes."
This award recognizes those who, with effort, creativity, and commitment, have elevated quality and sustainability in the country. Throughout its editions, it has become a symbol of excellence and an invitation to continue betting on responsible, inclusive, and transformative tourism.
The activity was attended by authorities from the political sector, business people, entrepreneurs, and representatives of organizations, who highlighted the positive impact of the award on the professionalization and competitiveness of the sector.
With this fourth edition, the National Tourism Award is not only consolidated as a platform for recognition, but also as a meeting and inspiration space for those who work for a more responsible, competitive and resilient tourism.
