Paliza claims that alleged charges to public employees do not reflect the line of the PRM or the Government

Santo Domingo.- The Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, assured that the Dominican government maintains a firm commitment to transparency, in the face of allegations of alleged irregular charges to public servants in the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) and the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA). Paliza, who also presides over the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), indicated that "there are the necessary institutional mechanisms to verify the veracity of the accusations" related to economic contributions allegedly intended to finance political movements. He maintained that, if these facts were confirmed, it would be inappropriate practices that do not represent either the Government headed by President Luis Abinader or the officialist political organization. In that sense, he reiterated his rejection of any action that may affect the image of the public administration.

The official stated that he hopes the relevant bodies will carry out the pertinent investigations and announced that the executive board of the PRM plans to meet in the coming days, a meeting in which the issue could be addressed. "**Any conduct that is not in accordance with the principles of the party or public office will receive distancing, reproach, and the corresponding sanctions,**" affirmed Paliza, while emphasizing that there are actions that, although not necessarily illegal, lack moral basis.

MAP says it has no formal complaints

For his part, the Minister of Public Administration, Sigmund Freund, assured that this institution has not received formal complaints related to the alleged irregular charges in the FEDA. Freund explained that this Monday he received a communication from the director of FEDA requesting technical support to review the internal payment processes for personnel. In addition, he clarified that the Ministry of Public Administration is not competent to supervise or regulate economic contributions destined for political activities. "They are contributions made voluntarily after the payment of the payroll, so they are not under the control of the ministry," the official specified.
