Bogota. The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, confirmed that he will travel to the United States to participate in international forums where he will defend his country’s sovereignty and respond to recent diplomatic tensions with Washington.
During a public address, the president assured that he will take Colombia’s position before the United Nations (UN) and emphasized that his government will maintain a firm stance against any external pressure.
“We do not kneel before anyone”, Petro expressed when referring to the defense of national sovereignty and the differences that have arisen in recent months with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
The head of state indicated that he will take advantage of his visit to U.S. territory to present Colombia’s vision on various international issues and reaffirm respect for international law, the self-determination of peoples, and cooperation between nations.
