New York. - The President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, supported this Wednesday the proposal of Canada and the United States for greater financial support in the face of a new intervention in Haiti.
This, after stating that Kenya's mission has not been sufficient to control the violence in this country sponsored by gangs.
"The only way out for Haiti is a coherent and sustained international action that will pave the way for democracy," the president pointed out.
He clarified that gangs have been classified as terrorist groups with whom there can be no negotiation.
It should be noted that during a telephone conversation, the Canadian Foreign Minister, Anita Anand, and the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, agreed on the "urgent need" for the United Nations Security Council to adopt a resolution authorizing a reinforced security mission in Haiti.
They also supported that this new mission has the backing of a UN office.
