Santo Domingo. The candidate for the Rectorate of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), professor Radhamés Silverio, closed his electoral campaign this Monday with a call to the university community to support a project aimed at continuing the process of institutional transformation, strengthening innovation, and preparing the academy for the challenges of the new technological era.
During an event held in the Aula Magna, Silverio maintained that the elections on Wednesday, June 17, represent a transcendental decision for the future of the Primada de América, considering that the university must maintain the pace of modernization achieved in recent years.
Before professors, students, administrative staff, and university leaders, the candidate assured that his tour of campuses, centers, sub-centers, faculties, and schools allowed him to verify the progress recorded in the institution, including the expansion of university infrastructure, the implementation of smart classrooms, the digitization of academic processes, and the expansion of the UASD’s presence throughout the national territory.
In that context, he acknowledged the administration of rector Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, stating that during the last four years the university has experienced one of the most important transformations in its recent history.
“When there is vision, planning, and the will to execute, the public university can innovate, modernize, and rise to the great challenges of its time,” he expressed.
Silverio stated that the main challenge for the next administration will be to leverage those advances as a platform to drive a new stage of institutional development, focused on artificial intelligence, data science, automation, biotechnology, and digital transformation.
The candidate maintained that the so-called Industry 5.0 is already modifying the labor market, scientific research, and teaching models, which is why he considered it essential for the UASD to assume a leadership role in training the human talent required by this new reality.
“Technology is neither a trend nor a discourse; it is a transformative tool and an indispensable catalyst to accelerate the changes that the university needs to continue promoting,” he stated.
He also warned about the risk of the institution losing momentum if it does not maintain a strategic vision in line with global transformations, noting that the university electoral process transcends a competition between candidacies.
“This process will define whether the university continues to advance at a greater speed, strengthens its capacity for innovation, and consolidates its national and international leadership”, he indicated.
Silverio reiterated that his management proposal prioritizes the well-being of teachers, students, and administrative staff; the strengthening of scientific research; innovation; the State-UASD connection; and the development of a smart, inclusive university connected to the world.
Likewise, he expressed his gratitude for the support received during the campaign from faculty movements, work teams, coordinators, and candidates in regional campuses and centers. Similarly, he acknowledged the members of his ticket for the vice-rectorates: Lesly Altagracia Mejía Roque, in the Academic area; Alexi Martínez Olivo, in the Administrative area; José Ferreira Capellán, in Research and Postgraduate studies; and Radhamés Bautista López García, in Extension.
In the final part of his speech, he urged the Electoral Cloister to participate massively in the university elections on June 17th and affirmed that the Primada “belongs to the Dominican people,” so its authorities have the responsibility to strengthen it for present and future generations.
The event concluded with a call to vote for his project under the slogan “The Best for the UASD,” accompanied by the commitment to continue promoting a university with more quality, innovation, research, opportunities, well-being, and future.
