Boca Chica.– The house where the tragedy occurred in which a seven-year-old boy lost his life at the hands of his 11-year-old brother remains closed this Saturday, while the remains of the minor are being mourned in the province of Barahona.

The information was confirmed by residents of the Los Tanquecitos sector, in the municipality of Boca Chica, who expressed consternation at the event that has impacted the entire community. According to versions offered by residents of the area, the incident occurred accidentally, after the 11-year-old child handled a homemade weapon, allegedly found in a goat pen near the family home.

According to the preliminary report from the authorities, the tragic event occurred on Friday afternoon, when the older child brought the device to the house and, under circumstances still under investigation, the shot that caused the death of the younger child occurred. The child died from a neck wound, according to the medical diagnosis, after being transferred to a health center in the area.

Subsequently, the weapon was recovered by the authorities, after another brother allegedly threw it out a window following the incident.

Meanwhile, the 11-year-old was provisionally handed over to his relatives and will be presented before the corresponding instances of Children and Adolescents (NNA).
