Santo Domingo.– The senator of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC), Ramón Rogelio Genao, positively assessed a potential political foray by businessman and communicator Santiago Matías Alofoke, considering that the Dominican political landscape needs to open spaces for new leadership with a view toward the 2028 elections.
Genao explained that the PRSC is immersed in a process of renewing its leadership and assured that the doors of that organization are open to any citizen who wishes to pursue a political career under the principles of reformism.
“We are in a renewal process looking ahead to 2028. We are not even in a pre-election year yet; there are about 25 months left until President Luis Abinader’s administration concludes. It is time to open space for the entry of new figures, of young people, from any social stratum, who want to pursue a political career and channel their aspirations,” he expressed.
When referring specifically to Santiago Matías, the legislator maintained that anyone interested in politics is welcome, provided they share the philosophy and thought of former President Joaquín Balaguer.
“Santiago Matías or any other Dominican who wants to pursue a political career can come, especially if they subscribe to the philosophy and thought of Dr. Joaquín Balaguer,” he stated.
The senator also highlighted the influence that the digital media entrepreneur has today, noting that social networks have transformed the way the population gets informed, communicates, and is entertained.

“Society has changed. Today, people get informed, entertained, communicate, and interact primarily through social media. A new language and a new form of communication have been created, which is a reality of these times. In that sphere, it must be acknowledged that Santiago Matías is the leading figure of influence in the Dominican Republic and one of the most important in the region,” he stated.
