SAN CRISTÓBAL.– Within the framework of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the municipality of Los Cacaos, the senator for San Cristóbal province, Gustavo Lara, highlighted the opportunities that this area possesses to consolidate itself as a benchmark for ecotourism in the Dominican Republic.
The legislator stated that the municipality possesses privileged natural conditions which, together with improvements in infrastructure and services, allow for projecting greater economic development based on nature tourism and the sustainable use of its resources.
Lara pointed out that Los Cacaos possesses significant water wealth and landscapes of great environmental value, elements that, in his view, represent an advantage for attracting visitors and promoting new productive initiatives that benefit local communities.
Likewise, he highlighted that the investments made in areas such as health, road connectivity, and support for entrepreneurship have contributed to creating a favorable scenario for the municipality’s growth, strengthening its capacity to receive visitors and generate new sources of employment.

The senator recalled that the history of Los Cacaos is linked to the effort of its first settlers, who promoted the development of a community that over time has become a point of importance for the San Cristóbal province, especially for its natural resources and its contribution to hydroelectric generation.
On the occasion of the centenary, Lara considered that this date represents an opportunity to promote a new stage of development, focused on environmental protection, the strengthening of ecological tourism, and the improvement of the quality of life of its inhabitants.
Finally, he reiterated the commitment of the San Cristóbal Senatorial Office to continue supporting projects and initiatives that promote the economic and social development of Los Cacaos and the rest of the province’s municipalities.
