Spain is among the 20 richest countries in the world by net financial assets, that is, debts discounted, in the international ranking of the Global Wealth Report of the insurer Allianz, published this Thursday. Spain had in 2024 net financial assets per capita of 49,220 euros and ranks twentieth ahead of Norway, Finland, South Korea, Portugal and the Czech Republic. Gross financial assets, including debts, per capita in Spain are 65,140 euros. When examining the ranking of the 25 richest countries by net financial assets per capita at the end of 2024, Allianz observes some differences compared to gross assets. The US has overtaken Switzerland for the top position with net financial assets per capita of 311,000 euros in 2024 because Switzerland has more than double the debt per capita (128,710 euros versus 59,160 euros for the US). Switzerland has net financial assets per capita of 268,860 euros.

Singapore is in third place (€197,460), Denmark in fourth (€191,560) and Taiwan in fifth (€167,530). Allianz highlights that “Spain is now among the 20 richest countries in the world”. Germany ranks thirteenth with net financial assets per capita of 86,800 euros, Italy fourteenth with 83,510 euros, and France eighteenth with 74,870 euros.
