Santo Domingo. – Lawyer Surum Hernández expressed his concern this Tuesday regarding information he claims to have about alleged “clear and precise guidelines” aimed at releasing the main defendants in the Senasa case and, subsequently, archiving the process, which, according to him, could lead to impunity.
During statements offered within the framework of the judicial process, Hernández maintained that the objective of the hearing would be to "guarantee the release" of Santiago Hazim, as well as to favor others involved, including businessmen who, according to his version, had received 16 billion pesos linked to the alleged embezzlement.
The jurist alleged that there are powerful sectors interested in preventing the case from moving forward, indicating that "they don't want justice" and that they seek to prevent the identification of "the ultimate beneficiary" of the money, which he described as "bloodstained," considering that these are funds that should have been allocated to the population's health.

Hernández also stated that there would be pressure to prevent further submissions against other alleged higher-level individuals, even pointing to a former official, whom he attributed with having designed a supposed "computer network" related to the case. In his complaint, the lawyer mentioned alleged orders and pressures from political instances to have corruption processes archived, warning that there would be a climate of institutional intimidation, linked to possible ratifications or permanence in positions within the judicial system. Finally, Hernández called on citizens to remain vigilant of the case's development, considering that it would be a "determining" process for transparency and the fight against corruption in the Dominican Republic.
