The authorities of the Czech Republic have joined France and Germany in requesting the resignation of "Francesca Albanese", UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, following her recent controversial statements.
The Czech government called Albanese's comments "unacceptable and indefensible," noting that this type of rhetoric does not contribute to reducing tensions in the region and may affect confidence in the impartiality of the UN. The authorities urged representatives of the international organization to act with professionalism and responsibility.
Israel also joined the criticism, arguing that the rapporteur should resign due to her statements, while Albanese defended that her words were misinterpreted and that she was referring to systems that allow human rights violations, not to the State of Israel as a nation.
