The Student Transportation TRAE has generated more than RD 12,000 million in savings for families

Santo Domingo. – The executive vice president of the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA), Onésimo González, stated that the National Student Transportation System (TRAE) has represented an unprecedented economic relief for thousands of Dominican families, by generating more than RD 12,000 million in savings, since its implementation in 2023. González highlighted that these results are the fruit of the vision of President Luis Abinader, who implemented the TRAE as a public policy aimed at guaranteeing safe, dignified and free school transportation for students throughout the country.

56.7 million safe trips

The official explained that, since the beginning of the program, in January 2023, until November 2025, the TRAE units have made 56.7 million trips throughout the national territory, becoming one of the most active and efficient student transportation systems in the region. "We have generated 56.7 million safe trips, representing a family saving of more than RD 12,000 million. This shows the real impact of this initiative on the Dominican household economy," indicated González.

More jobs and greater social impact The director of TRAE emphasized that the project not only benefits students and their parents, but has also significantly contributed to job creation. Currently, the system has created more than 5,200 direct jobs, positively impacting thousands of households. These jobs include drivers, monitors, technical, operational, and administrative staff who are part of the national structure of the program.

A model of security, efficiency, and social support

González assured that the TRAE has established itself as a safe and reliable student transportation model, with modern units, strict protocols, and routes designed to ensure that students arrive on time and protected at their educational centers. Likewise, he reiterated the commitment to continue strengthening the system, expanding routes and increasing the bus fleet, with the aim of continuing to support the family economy and improve the mobility conditions of thousands of students nationwide.
