Santo Domingo. – The weather expert, Jean Suriel, predicted that this weekend will be very hot in the Dominican Republic due to the indirect influence of Tropical Storm Jerry, which will push very hot air to our country: in addition, we are in the last month of the hottest period in the Caribbean.
The professional indicated that the atmospheric phenomenon will transit to the northeast of the Caribbean region in the coming days: it feeds on very hot air in the marine region and has generated a change in the wind that comes from the south, dragging abundant humidity to DR.
However, from today until Monday, we will have a heat index between 39°C and 45°C in a large part of the country: the highest concentration of heat will be towards the border area, northwest, north and south.
In addition, another indirect effect that the storm will have will be the production of moderate to heavy rainfall: this afternoon showers with electrical discharges and some wind gusts are expected towards the Central Mountain Range, north, northwest, northeast, south and southeast.
Tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, moderate to heavy rainfall will persist in much of the Dominican Republic. And on Monday, humid winds, in addition to the proximity of a trough, showers will persist in the afternoon and during the night.
Off-season, a Saharan dust cloud will approach the Caribbean region along with Storm Jerry: it is likely that it will not have the momentum to reach the Dominican Republic.
