Santo Domingo.- The National Student Transportation System (TRAE), in collaboration with the Metropolitan Bus Services Operator (OMSA), delivered two buses to the Instituto Técnico Superior Comunitario (ITSC), as part of the actions aimed at strengthening student transportation in the country.
The units underwent a comprehensive maintenance and refurbishment process by the OMSA technical staff, with the aim of guaranteeing a safe, efficient and dignified service for ITSC students.
The event was led by the director of TRAE, Ing. Luis Felipe Cartagena, representing the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps García; the executive vice president of OMSA, Ing. Onéximo González, and the rector of ITSC, Dr. José Ramón Holguín Brito, along with special guests and members of the press.
The director of TRAE, Luis Cartagena, highlighted that the formal delivery of these units to the ITSC reaffirms the commitment of the Dominican Government with the strengthening of student transportation and the well-being of young people. He added that this delivery, carried out together with OMSA, reflects the importance of inter-institutional articulation for the benefit of the educational community and the future of the country.
For his part, the executive vice president of OMSA, Onésimo González, reiterated his commitment to the country's mobility and the dignification of transportation. He also clarified that he is making this delivery in compliance with the agreement he has with TRAE to provide maintenance to the school buses of the country and, in turn, impact the education of our people. “Education is the fastest ladder to get out of ignorance and be able to climb to a higher standard of living,” he indicated.

Both González and Cartagena highlighted the positive impact of the TRAE program, which has carried out more than 70 million student transfers throughout the national territory, thereby generating a significant economic relief for Dominican families. Regarding the importance of facilitating student transportation, the rector of ITSC, José Ramón Holguín, also spoke, highlighting that this alliance between TRAE, OMSA and the Instituto Técnico Superior Comunitario represents a significant support to expand the educational opportunities of thousands of young people, especially from vulnerable communities. Likewise, he valued that this collaboration will contribute to strengthening access and student permanence, in an institution that continues to consolidate itself as a benchmark of innovation and transformation from public technical education in the Dominican Republic. With this delivery, TRAE, OMSA, and ITSC reaffirm their commitment to continue promoting initiatives that contribute to the well-being and development of the country's student community.
