Hoover, Alabama – Sports journalist Christina Chambers, 36, and her husband, Johnny Rimes, were found dead in their Hoover residence in an apparent murder-suicide case, local police reported. Both had gunshot wounds.
The couple's three-year-old son was found unharmed and placed in the care of relatives. Authorities confirmed that there is no threat to the community.
Chambers was recognized for her work at WLTZ NBC38, Comcast Sports Southeast and WBRC Fox, and in recent years she served as a teacher in journalism and audiovisual production in high schools. In 2024 she received the "Advisor of the Year" award from the Alabama Scholastic Press Association.
Rimes worked as a financial analyst at American Cast Iron Pipe Company, with nearly 14 years of experience.
