San Salvador, El Salvador.– The intense rains associated with Tropical Storm Cristina have caused damage to dozens of homes, flooding, and various disruptions in several parts of El Salvador, civil protection authorities reported this Friday.
According to official reports, at least 76 homes have been affected by the rainfall recorded in recent days, while hundreds of people have had to be evacuated from areas considered high-risk due to the rising water levels of rivers and streams.
Authorities indicated that the rains have caused urban flooding, landslides, fallen trees, and damage to road infrastructure, hindering traffic in various locations across the country.
The General Directorate of Civil Protection reported that it maintains active emergency protocols and permanent monitoring in the most vulnerable departments, where rescue and assistance teams are working to attend to affected families and prevent further damage.

Reported incidents include flooded homes, landslides on roads, and communities partially cut off due to overflowing tributaries. Likewise, several temporary shelters have been set up to receive evacuated people.
The authorities also indicated that a preventive alert remains in place in different areas of the Salvadoran territory due to the possibility that rains will continue over the next few hours, which could increase the risk of flash floods and landslides.
Tropical Storm Cristina is moving off the Mexican Pacific coast, but its wide circulation has generated abundant moisture over several Central American countries, including El Salvador, where rainfall has been persistent since the beginning of the week.
Given this situation, Civil Protection urged the population to stay informed through official channels, avoid crossing rivers or swollen water currents, and follow the recommendations issued by local authorities.
