Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump led a meeting with workers in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday to defend his proposal to eliminate taxes on tips for hourly employees, as part of his strategy to reinforce support for the Republican Party ahead of the midterm elections in November.
"Las Vegas is home to the largest concentration of tip-receiving workers anywhere in the country, anywhere in the world," said the president at the opening of the event at the AC Hotel, and maintained, without concrete data, that the recent tax cuts have "raised tax refunds" of thousands of employees. In his speech, the president also highlighted the impact of tax cuts on service sector workers and assured that the measure is already generating economic benefits. "They received the biggest tax refunds of their lives," Trump stated, highlighting waiters, bartenders, casino employees, and other workers as the main beneficiaries of his tax policy.
