Santo Domingo.– Two Dominican citizens were handed over this Saturday to United States authorities, where they must answer before New York courts for accusations related to large-scale drug trafficking and other crimes.

The extradited individuals were identified as Luis Ezequiel Then Martínez and Carlos Pisandro Peña Tejeda, also known as Bertinio Emilio Peguero (Papa), who were transported under custody from the Las Américas International Airport (AILA) to U.S. territory.

The delivery was carried out by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), with the collaboration of the United States Marshals Service (U.S. Marshals), as part of the judicial cooperation agreements between both countries.

According to authorities, Then Martínez faces charges in the New York State Supreme Court for alleged second-degree conspiracy, operating as a major drug trafficker, first-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, and first- and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
