Santo Domingo.– The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) received this Monday the torch of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, in a ceremony held in front of the statue of Juan Pablo Duarte, at the main campus of the academy.
The activity was led by the rector, Jorge Asjana David, and was attended by representatives of the Games Organizing Committee and several athletes who will represent the country in the competition, which will be held from July 24 to August 8.
During the event, the rector highlighted that the UASD is committed to the success of the Games. He explained that the university will contribute athletes and will also participate with its University Volunteering program, whose members will provide support in logistics, medical care, and protocol tasks.
Asjana David also recalled that the Tony Barreiro Sports Center has served as one of the main training venues for many of the Dominican athletes who will compete in the event.

With the arrival of the torch, the UASD reaffirmed its support for sports and its commitment to collaborate with the organization of Games that will bring together athletes from across the region in the Dominican Republic.
