Santo Domingo. The Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) launched a modern Integrated Audiovisual System for the School of Social Communication, an initiative aimed at strengthening the practical training of future professionals in the field through specialized technology for content production.
The new infrastructure, presented by rector Editrudis Beltrán Crisóstomo, required an investment of nearly RD$25 million and includes a television studio, a radio and podcast booth, as well as a multimedia laboratory intended for the editing and creation of digital content.
During the inaugural ceremony, Beltrán highlighted that the project responds to the need to adapt university education to the demands of the labor market, offering students spaces equipped with tools similar to those used in the media and the audiovisual industry.
The rector explained that the new facilities will allow for the development of skills in television production, journalism, editing, audiovisual production, and content generation for digital platforms, while also strengthening academic research and innovation processes.
For his part, the director of the School of Social Communication, Óscar Peña, stated that the complex represents an important step in the modernization of the degree program, by integrating technological resources that favor practical learning and collaborative work in the same space.

Among the installed equipment, notable items include PTZ robotic cameras, multi-camera production systems, LED lighting, teleprompters, professional microphones, and high-capacity audio consoles, in addition to areas designated for simulating journalistic coverage, press conferences, and social media production.
The Integrated Audiovisual System also has two studios connected to a central control room, which will allow for greater flexibility in academic productions and facilitate the development of practical work in different communication formats.
Upon inaugurating the project, Beltrán recalled that this initiative is part of the institutional transformation process promoted by the university, which has also allowed for the enabling of dozens of smart classrooms in faculties, campuses, and regional centers.

The event was attended by university authorities, faculty, students, and special guests, who toured the new facilities following the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the blessing of the space.
