Vice President heads inauguration of the Opportunity 14-24 Program center: delivers works in the Cibao

Santiago. – The Vice President of the Republic, Raquel Peña, led this Saturday the opening of the new center of the Opportunity 14-24 Program in the Cienfuegos sector, in Santiago; the delivery of the urban and informative totem of Santiago Oeste; and the inauguration of the renovated municipal hospital of Piedra Blanca, in Bonao. The new center of the Oportunidad 14-24 Program, an initiative of the Social Policy Cabinet, is number 148 in operation and will allow the integration of one hundred young people who will receive technical-professional training, psychoemotional support and support for their job placement.

The 14-24 Program represents the hope and drive that our youth needs to achieve everything they set out to do”, expressed Peña.

The Vice President assured that the Government will continue to strengthen and support programs that generate tangible opportunities and open paths to overcome challenges for Dominican youth.

Authorities from the Social Policy Cabinet explained that the center marks a turning point for young people seeking training, employment, and support through a strategy that integrates education, psychoemotional support, nutrition, seed capital for entrepreneurship, and internships coordinated with public and private institutions.

Santiago Oeste

During her tour, the vice president unveiled the Urban and Informative Totem of Santiago Oeste, a structure that highlights the identity, history, and cultural projection of the municipal district. Senator Daniel Rivera highlighted that this type of work strengthens the connection between the community and its collective memory, promoting pride and a sense of belonging in a growing territory.

The day concluded in Piedra Blanca, Bonao, where the Vice President delivered the completely renovated municipal hospital, benefiting more than 26,000 citizens of Monseñor Nouel and formalized the delivery of funds for the construction of the Bonao Municipal Market and the Piedra Blanca Municipal Palace. The hospital intervention represented a total investment of RD$45,004,572.09, distributed between equipment and infrastructure. With this work, the National Health Service (SNS) reaches its 45th renovation under the direction of Dr. Mario Lama. The renovation included gynecological, dental, and multipurpose offices; sonography, X-ray, laboratory, and vaccine areas; inpatient beds; delivery room; operating room; neonatal area; pharmacy; and an Emergency Room with waiting room, triage, observation beds, resuscitation box, and nursing stations. Regarding the market and the Municipal Palace of Piedra Blanca, they will have 25 million pesos and 21 million, respectively. The new market will boost the local economy and offer a more organized, safe, and functional space for the community.
