When talking about oral sex, it is often reduced to a quick moment or a simple preliminary step before intercourse. However, there is also a way to enjoy it calmly, without haste, where pleasure is experienced with full attention and the senses fully activated. In that context, sexuality specialists highlight a position that has gained popularity: the well-known “position 42”. Far from being a trend or a complicated stunt, this position gets its name from the shape the bodies take from a side view: the person receiving the stimulus draws a “4” with their posture, while the person performing it, kneeling, suggests a “2”. Beyond the curiosity of the name, the important thing is that it is a more comfortable, close, and different form of intimacy than usual. Whether in cunnilingus or fellatio, this position facilitates a more conscious experience of the partner’s body. It favors eye contact, improves non-verbal communication, and creates a more relaxed environment, where time seems to slow down. What at first glance may seem like just a posture, in practice becomes an experience of connection and pleasure that many claim to want to repeat.

In statements collected by THE OBJECTIVE, sexologist Lucía Jiménez, from Diversual, explained that it is a position in which one person receives pleasure while the other offers it, although she clarified that “giving pleasure can also be equally satisfying.” Jiménez explained that the name of this position responds to a visual representation of the bodies: “The numbers 4 and 2 represent the form that the position adopts; one person sits in a chair and the other, on their knees, performs oral sex on them.”
