Santiago.- A 25-year-old man died after being stabbed in the chest, in an incident that occurred in the Los Salados sector of this city, allegedly motivated by a previous conflict related to the theft of a motorcycle, according to
“They stayed the same”: pregnant woman who received 42 stab wounds says neighbors did not help the victim's family.
The deceased was identified as Nopiquen Pérez, of Haitian nationality, who worked as a truck driver in a beverage company.
According to versions offered by his relatives, the alleged aggressor, known in the area as "El Bily", would have attacked him due to grudges that arose weeks ago after the theft of an engine owned by the deceased.
María Burgos, the young man's sister, assured that her relative was a hardworking man and demanded justice from the authorities. "He wasn't a criminal, he was a working boy. They killed him for the same reason as the motorcycle and now that man is saying he's going to kill more people. I just ask that they arrest him so there are no more deaths," she expressed, visibly affected.
Another relative, José Luis García, explained that on the day the robbery occurred, Pérez had left the motorcycle parked with the key in it, while making a delivery. He later managed to recover it, but when he located the alleged perpetrator, a physical confrontation occurred which, according to reports, had left resentments.
"Two weeks had already passed since then, and it seems he still held a grudge. Yesterday, he surprised him when he was going to buy gasoline for the work engines," he recounted.
Likewise, Luis Enríquez stated that the alleged murderer had made prior threats against the victim. "He said he was going to kill him and that he was going for more. That was something he had planned," he maintained.
After committing the act, the alleged aggressor fled. The National Police reported that they are actively searching for him to arrest him, while the Public Prosecutor's Office is deepening the investigations to clarify the circumstances of the crime.
The body was taken to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), where an autopsy was performed before being handed over to the family.
Pérez, who had been residing in Santiago for almost ten years, will be buried in the Los Guandules neighborhood, in the National District, according to his relatives.
