Yunesky Maya is recognized as an Adoptive Son by the City Council of Santiago

Santiago.- The Council of Councilors of the municipality of Santiago declared Adoptive Son of the city to the pitcher of the Aguilas Cibaeñas Yunesky Maya, through Resolution No. 3494-25, in recognition of his outstanding career in professional baseball and the values of discipline, perseverance and commitment that have marked his sporting career. The recognition was presented by Mayor Ulises Rodríguez, who highlighted the dedication, professionalism, and passion demonstrated by Maya during her time with the Águilas Cibaeñas team, with whom she left a significant mark on the city's sports history. During the event, municipal authorities highlighted that the former Cuban Major League pitcher earned the respect and affection of the Santiago fans, not only for his performance on the field, but also for his exemplary conduct both on and off the sports field.

Maya, visibly emotional, thanked the recognition and remembered his arrival in Santiago in the 2015-2016 season, when his career seemed to be at a low point due to an injury. "I came to this city thinking that my career was over, but seeing this stadium I dreamed of pitching here. It was something very special, something incredible for me," he expressed.
