Washington.- <\/strong>The former US President Joe Biden<\/strong>, 82, was evaluated by specialists after the discovery of a \"small nodule\" in the prostate during a routine medical exam.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"A small nodule was found on the prostate during a routine physical exam, which required further evaluation,\" a Biden spokesperson said in a brief statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The veteran Democratic politician was examined at a hospital in Philadelphia last Friday, according to a report this Tuesday by the newspaper The New York Times.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further tests will be required to determine whether the nodule is benign or could instead point to prostate cancer, although the spokesperson did not offer further details on the treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Biden left the White House <\/strong>last January as the oldest U.S. president in office. During his presidency (2021-2025), there were questions about his fitness to continue in the position due to his age and health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Democratic former president abandoned the re-election race in mid-2024 to instead support the candidacy of his vice president, Kamala Harris, who was defeated at the polls by Donald Trump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In early 2024, Biden's personal physician declared him fit to continue in the position after a physical examination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In February 2023, Biden had a cancerous lesion removed from his chest in a successful operation, after which the then White House physician assured that no further treatment was required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
