Washington.- <\/strong>Former U.S. President Barack Obama<\/strong> (2009-2017) charged this Thursday against Donald Trump’s tax plan that Republicans approved in the House of Representatives and assured that it “puts at risk” the lives of the most vulnerable Americans.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The most vulnerable Americans (families, the elderly, people with disabilities) will not be able to get the treatment, medications, or care they need to save their lives,” he wrote on X.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The former president spoke out a few hours after House Republicans managed to unblock negotiations and approve the controversial mega-project of tax cuts and spending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The initiative now needs to overcome the majority in the Senate, where conservatives also outnumber Democrats by a narrow margin, in order to come into effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump wants the process to be completed before the symbolic July 4th, United States Independence Day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Obama, for his part, knowing that it is in the hands of the senators, urged citizens to “communicate” with the legislators to “show them how much it would affect” and thus try to convince them not to support the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They want to cut federal funding for Medicaid, eliminate tax credits that help more people afford coverage, and increase costs for working-class families,” the Democrat stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the Congressional Budget Office<\/a><\/strong>, the law would force nearly $500 billion in cuts to Medicare starting in 2026 and would add $2.3 trillion to the deficit over 10 years, The Washington Post reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
