{"id":473601,"date":"2025-06-30T21:44:39","date_gmt":"2025-07-01T01:44:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/uncategorized\/government-defends-partial-lpg-increase-and-highlights-historic-subsidies\/"},"modified":"2025-06-30T21:44:39","modified_gmt":"2025-07-01T01:44:39","slug":"government-defends-partial-lpg-increase-and-highlights-historic-subsidies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/en\/economy\/government-defends-partial-lpg-increase-and-highlights-historic-subsidies\/","title":{"rendered":"Government defends partial LPG increase and highlights historic subsidies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Santo Domingo, DR<\/strong> \u2013 This Monday, in the space \u201cLa Semanal con la prensa\u201d, the Minister of <strong>Industry, Commerce and Mipymes, V\u00edctor \"Ito\" Bison\u00f3<\/strong>, and President Luis Abinader explained the reasons behind the recent adjustment to the price of <strong>liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)<\/strong>, product of the increase in the <strong>ad\u2011valorem<\/strong> tax applied to fuels.<\/p>\n\n\nBison\u00f3 recalled that said tribute was raised from <strong>13% to 16% in 2012<\/strong>, which increases the cost structure of fuels.\n\n\n<p><strong>You may be interested in:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/economia\/glp-y-gasoil-suben-hasta-rd4-60\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"495420\">LPG and diesel rise up to RD$4.60<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nHowever, he emphasized that the Government has decided not to fully pass on this expense to consumers, assuming a large part of it with public funds.\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cOn this occasion we had to pass some of the cost on to consumers, as has happened before,\u201d<\/strong> admitted the minister, referring to the increase of <strong>RD$4.60 per gallon<\/strong>, although he clarified that the State continues to subsidize <strong>RD$11.95 per gallon<\/strong>, thus protecting Dominican households.<\/p>\n\n\nSupporting this measure, President Abinader assured that the volume of <strong>subsidies is unprecedented<\/strong>.
