You may be interested in:<\/strong> Colombia's Supreme Court temporarily suspends investigation against Petro<\/a><\/p>\n\n\nDespite emphasizing that Washington was not involved in the former chancellor's plan, the lawyer called to remember that one of the congressmen<\/a> mentioned in the audios<\/a> of Leyva Dur\u00e1n revealed, Carlos Antonio Gim\u00e9nez, has uttered insults and accusations lacking evidence against the head of state of Colombia. \n\n\"It must be taken into account the expressions that one of the American congressmen (sic) [Gim\u00e9nez] has repeatedly said, which is that the president is an addict<\/strong>, is sick, etcetera. And what evidence does the country have? What documents have evidenced that?\", he claimed.\n\n\n

In that regard, Carrasco pointed out that Colombia has no evidence and that the accusations<\/a> of Leyva Dur\u00e1n and Gim\u00e9nez are based on the word of the former diplomat<\/strong>, who would be \"bitter\" (resentful) because Petro did not appoint his son to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. <\/p>\n\n\nFrom this resentment, he detailed, the former chancellor would have used his role as the president's representative in \"some meetings\" as the basis for the supposed incapacity of the ruler.\n\n\n

Scandal and Investigations<\/h3>\n\n\nOn the eve, the Colombian Prosecutor's Office announced<\/a> the beginning of an investigation into the case of the audios, in which other figures of local politics such as Vice President Francia M\u00e1rquez and presidential pre-candidates Vicky D\u00e1vila and Miguel Uribe Turbay are mentioned.\n\nBoth M\u00e1rquez<\/a> and D\u00e1vila<\/a> have publicly distanced themselves from the attempted coup.
