<\/h3>\n\n\nKANSAS CITY<\/strong>. \u2014 Bobby Witt Jr. and Venezuelan Salvador P\u00e9rez<\/strong> each hit home runs to back a solid start by rookie Noah Cameron<\/strong>, and the Kansas City Royals<\/strong> defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates<\/strong> with authority 9-3 this Monday night at Kauffman Stadium.\n\n\n

The lefty also struck out seven batters<\/strong>, in a performance that consolidates his place in the rotation.\n\nThe Kansas City bats responded early and forcefully. Vinnie Pasquantino<\/strong> opened the scoring with his 15th home run<\/strong> of the campaign in the first inning. Then, in the third episode, Salvador P\u00e9rez<\/strong> hit a run-scoring double<\/strong> to break the tie and give the Royals a 3-2 lead. It didn’t stop there: in the fifth inning, the Venezuelan captain hit his 11th home run of the year<\/strong>, a solo shot to left field.\n\nFor his part, Bobby Witt Jr.<\/strong> was once again a star, batting 3-2<\/strong> with two runs scored and three RBIs. He extended his hitting streak to 11 games<\/strong> and reached 13 home runs<\/strong> on the season, with a two-run homer in the fourth inning that put the game 6-2 in favor of the home team. He added a sacrifice fly in the sixth to drive in another.\n\nNick Loftin<\/strong> also contributed with a solo home run in the eighth, completing Kansas City’s power attack, which shook four home runs in total<\/strong>.\n\nFor the Pirates, Dominican Alexander Canario<\/strong> drove in the team’s third run in the ninth inning with a single. Pittsburgh’s offense, however, remains in poor form after breaking a 30-inning scoreless streak with Pham’s home run.\n\n\n
