Despite the full operation of all the country's power plants, the population continues to receive long periods of blackouts, especially at night.<\/p>\n
These power outages triggered tire burning as a form of protest yesterday in Puerto Plata, San Francisco de Macor\u00eds, Constanza, among other locations.<\/p>\n
The population's discontent has been felt on social media, where people are vehemently complaining about the long blackouts, currently becoming the main citizen complaint against the authorities.<\/p>\n
At the time of this writing, the National Interconnected Energy System is serving 3,407 MW and the scheduled amount is 3,261 MW.<\/p>\n
As of today, the Punta Catalina Electric Generation Company is serving 19.3% of what is generated by the system, followed by EGE HAINA responsible for 10.5% of the generation, Dominican Power Partners, 7.8%, AES Andr\u00e9s 7.5%, and CESPM 7.5%<\/p>\n
Following are EGEITABO with 7.2% and Seaboard with 6.6%. <\/p>\n
It is recalled that the effects of storm ERIN caused a significant accumulation of sargassum that reduced the cooling level of the Punta Catalina units and forced one of them to be temporarily taken out of operation.
