“With deep sorrow I announce the passing of my father, Juan B\u00e1ez. This morning he had a heart attack at the UCE Medical Center,” expressed his son.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

<\/h3>\n\n\nBorn in La Romana<\/strong>, Juan B\u00e1ez left an indelible mark on Dominican sports narration. He was the founder of the Toros del Este<\/strong> broadcast chain in 1983, the year the franchise debuted in the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM)<\/strong>.\n\nHis passionate style and knowledge of the game made him one of the most recognized voices in winter baseball and, in addition, one of the most respected commentators in international boxing<\/strong>.\n\nB\u00e1ez broadcast legendary fights of Muhammad Ali<\/strong>, George Foreman<\/strong>, Joe Frazier<\/strong>, as well as the historic fight between Miguel Montilla<\/strong> and Antonio Cervantes \u201cKid Pambel\u00e9\u201d<\/strong> at Madison Square Garden<\/strong> in New York. In addition, he became one of the first Dominicans accredited as an international boxing judge<\/strong>, taking his talent to various countries in America, Europe, Asia and Africa.\n\nHe was also part of the Spanish-language broadcast team for the Boston Red Sox<\/strong> for several years, adding prestige to his brilliant career.\n\n\n
