<\/h3>\n\n\nSanto Domingo.<\/strong> \u2014 Dominican sprinter Marileidy Paulino<\/strong> leads the delegation of the Dominican Republic that will compete in the World Athletics Championships<\/strong>, to be held in Tokyo, Japan<\/strong>, from September 13 to 21<\/strong>. The double world champion and Olympic medalist will seek to add a third world title<\/strong> and continue to consolidate her name among the best athletes on the planet.\n\n\n

\u201cWe believe in and trust our athletes and coaches. We hope to have medals. The world championships are a box of surprises, but our delegation is ready to give their best,\u201d expressed Peguero.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Marileidy, for the triple world crown<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nMarileidy Paulino, originally from Nizao<\/strong>, will try to conquer her third gold medal<\/strong> in world championships. The sprinter already achieved gold in the 4×400 relay<\/strong> in Eugene 2022<\/strong> and in the 400 meter dash<\/strong> in Budapest 2023<\/strong>, where she made history by becoming the first Dominican woman<\/strong> to win an individual world title, with a time of 48.76 seconds<\/strong>.\n\nAlthough he recently fell in the grand final of the Diamond League<\/strong>, Peguero trusts that in Tokyo Paulino will return to his maximum level:\n\n\n

  • Alexander Ogando<\/strong> \u2013 200 and 400 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Lidio F\u00e9liz<\/strong> \u2013 200 meters<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Liranyi Alonso<\/strong> \u2013 100 and 200 meters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\nOgando arrives in great shape, after obtaining a bronze medal<\/strong> in the final of the 200 meters<\/strong> of the Diamond League in Switzerland, with a time of 20.14 seconds<\/strong>, and conquering first place in the Philadelphia<\/strong> stop of the Grand Slam Track<\/strong> with 20.13 seconds<\/strong>.\n\n\n

    For her part, Liranyi Alonso<\/strong> is emerging as one of the team’s surprises after winning gold and silver<\/strong> at the Junior Pan American Games<\/strong> and obtaining silver in the 100 meters<\/strong> at the NACAC Championship<\/strong> last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Expectations and preparation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nAlexis Peguero highlighted the dedication and discipline of the Dominican athletes and expressed that the federation has worked together with the coaches to ensure they arrive in optimal conditions. He also praised coach Jos\u00e9 Ludwig Rubio<\/strong>, whom he described as “a source of pride for the country” for his impact on the development of national talents.\n\n\n
