<\/p>\n\n\nSANTIAGO.<\/strong> \u2013 A bases-loaded triple by young Alberto Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong> gave the \u00c1guilas Cibae\u00f1as<\/strong> a 4-3 victory over the Gigantes del Cibao<\/strong> this Wednesday, in the inaugural game of the 2025-2026 autumn-winter baseball tournament<\/strong>, held at the Cibao stadium<\/strong>.\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\nRodr\u00edguez, who did not start in the lineup, was sent as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning<\/strong> by manager Luis \u201cPipe\u201d Urueta<\/strong>, and responded spectacularly by clearing the bases with a three-run triple<\/strong>, which turned the scoreboard in favor of the \u00c1guilas. The Cibao team maintained control of the game until the end to seal their first victory of the season.\n\nThe winning pitcher<\/strong> was Jos\u00e9 Cu\u00e1s (1-0)<\/strong>, while the loss fell to Raymind Guduan (0-1)<\/strong>. Hunter Bigge (1)<\/strong> was credited with the save<\/strong>.\n\nAt 7:31 PM<\/strong>, the Aguiluchos’ opener Devin Smeltzer<\/strong> made the first official pitch of the championship<\/strong>, working 4.2 innings of one run, four hits, two strikeouts and one walk, leaving without a decision.\n\nThe “Aguilucho” relay was completed by Jos\u00e9 Cu\u00e1s (5th), Junior Fern\u00e1ndez (7th), Richard Rodr\u00edguez (8th)<\/strong> and Hunter Bigge (9th)<\/strong>, who contained the visitors’ attack.\n\nFor the Giants<\/strong>, Emilio Vargas<\/strong> had a solid 4.2 scoreless innings, with six strikeouts and two walks. He was followed by Benoni Robles, Guduan, Joel C\u00e9sar, Birling, Scott Engler<\/strong> and Wilkin Ramos<\/strong>.\n\n\n

<\/h3>\n\n\nThe Eagles’ offense was led by Rayner Delgado<\/strong>, who doubled and singled; Aderlin Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, with two hits; Alberto Rodr\u00edguez<\/strong>, with his decisive triple; and Stewart Berroa<\/strong> and \u00c1ngel Genao<\/strong>, with one hit each.\n\nFor the Giants, Carlos Franco<\/strong> shone with a home run; Kevin Guti\u00e9rrez<\/strong> hit a double; and Gary S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>, Cooper Johnson<\/strong> and Carlos Jorge<\/strong> each connected a single.\n\n\n
