SANTO DOMINGO.\u2013<\/strong> President Luis Abinader<\/strong> confirmed this Monday that the Dominican Government<\/strong> and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) are designing new strategies against drug trafficking, which he described as \u201cmuch more extensive\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cmuch more profound\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\nThe leader made these statements during his weekly meeting with the press, La Semanal<\/em>, although he avoided going into detail, announcing that the plans will be announced “in the coming days.”\n\n\n

Recent Cooperation with the DEA<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\nThe president’s statements come days after the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) reported the seizure of 806 packages of alleged cocaine<\/strong> off the coast of Pedernales.\n\nIn this operation, agents from the DNCD, the Dominican Navy (ARD), and the Air Force (FARD) participated, with the support of the Joint Interagency Task Force South (JIATF South) and the “DEA”, as part of “Operation Lanza del Sur”, promoted by the United States Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth.\n\nAbinader reiterated that cooperation in security matters between both countries is solid and that the Dominican Republic will continue to reinforce its response capacity against transnational organized crime.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
