Exports to the latter are also supported by platinum gold and raw gold, worth US$430.6 million so far this year.\n\nIndia is currently the second-largest consumer of gold in the world. Gold jewelry is a symbol of status and wealth in Indian society, and is common at important events such as weddings and religious festivals.
