\"Very serious military aggression\"<\/h3>\n\n\nThe Venezuelan government spoke out this Saturday after the first air attack perpetrated by the U.S. against the city of Caracas<\/strong> \"and the states Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira<\/strong>\", described as a \"very serious military aggression<\/a>\". \n\n\"This act constitutes a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, especially Articles 1 and 2, which enshrine respect for sovereignty, the legal equality of States, and the prohibition of the use of force. Such aggression threatens international peace and stability<\/strong>, specifically in Latin America and the Caribbean, and seriously endangers the lives of millions of people,\" indicates an official statement<\/a>.\n\nIn the statement, Caracas warned that the objective of the attacks \"is none other than to seize Venezuela's strategic resources, in particular its oil and minerals, attempting to forcibly break the political independence of the Nation.\"\n\nDespite the pressures, Venezuela warned the U.S.: \"You will not succeed<\/strong>. After more than two hundred years of independence, the people and their legitimate Government remain firm in defense of sovereignty<\/strong> and the inalienable right to decide their destiny. The attempt to impose a colonial war to destroy the republican form of government and force a 'regime change', in alliance with the fascist oligarchy will fail like all previous attempts.\"\n\nAmidst the situation, the Venezuelan leader ordered<\/a> the implementation of the State of External Commotion throughout the national territory, with the purpose of \"protecting the rights of the population, the full functioning of republican institutions and immediately moving to armed struggle\".\n\n\"The entire country must be activated to defeat this imperialist aggression<\/strong>,\" the statement indicates.
