Santo Domingo, R.D.\u2013<\/strong> Eduardo Jos\u00e9 Sanz Lovat\u00f3n, better known as Eduardo \u201cYayo\u201d Sanz Lovat\u00f3n<\/strong>, is a Dominican lawyer, professor, politician and public servant with extensive experience in public administration, law and academia, who will now head Industry, Commerce and Mipymes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nSanz Lovat\u00f3n was born on February 5, 1977<\/strong> in Santo Domingo, Distrito Nacional. He holds a law degree<\/strong> from the Pontificia Universidad Cat\u00f3lica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM)<\/strong>. He completed studies for a Doctorate in Private International Law<\/strong> at the Institut d’\u00c9tudes Politiques de Paris<\/strong>, as well as studies in Civil Law at the Panth\u00e9on-Assas University<\/strong> in France.\n\nIn addition, she took specialized programs in Free Trade in the Americas<\/strong> (organized by Rice University and the OAS) and in professional leadership<\/strong> with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in Washington, D.C.\n\nHe has taught at universities such as PUCMM<\/strong>, UNIBE<\/strong>, APEC<\/strong> and the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD)<\/strong>.\n\n\n

Public and Political Career<\/h3>\n\n\nSince August 2020<\/strong>, Sanz Lovat\u00f3n served as General Director of the General Customs Directorate (DGA)<\/strong>, a position from which he promoted the modernization of the Dominican customs system, incorporating inspection technologies and procedures that have increased efficiency, security, and tax collection. <\/p>\n\nDuring his administration, he has promoted the development of national logistics as a strategic engine to transform the Dominican Republic into a competitive logistics hub at the regional level<\/strong>, emphasizing the role of trade and port and airport infrastructure.\n\nIn the political arena, he is a founding member of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM)<\/strong> and has held leadership positions within that organization, including the position of national secretary of Finance<\/strong> and member of its Executive Directorate.\n\n\n

Recognitions and Leadership<\/h3>\n\n\nDue to his public work, Sanz Lovat\u00f3n has received prominent recognitions, including the \u201cPublic Servant 2025\u201d<\/strong> award granted by the Dominican Federation of Merchants<\/strong>, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening relations between national commerce and customs authorities.\n\nIn addition, he has been frequently invited to participate in forums and meetings with representatives from the private and business sector, seeking to promote policies that boost the country’s economic competitiveness.\n\n\n
