Puerto Rico.- <\/strong>The President of the United States, Donald Trump<\/a>, granted a full presidential pardon<\/strong> to the former governor of Puerto Rico, Wanda V\u00e1zquez Garced<\/strong>, who had been convicted of federal corruption, as well as to her two co-defendants in the case: the Venezuelan banker Julio Herrera Velutini<\/strong> and the financial advisor Mark Rossini<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\nThe information was confirmed through the publication of official copies of the pardons<\/strong>, signed on January 15, 2026<\/strong>, on the portal of the Office of the Attorney of Clemency and Pardon of the United States Department of Justice<\/strong>.\n\nAccording to the White House, the three had been convicted for their participation in a corruption, bribery, and fraud scheme<\/strong>, related to the primary campaign of the New Progressive Party (PNP) in 2020.\n\nA spokesperson for the former governor indicated that, for the moment, there will be no public comments<\/strong> until V\u00e1zquez Garced can meet with her legal team. The former governor became the first person to govern Puerto Rico to plead guilty to corruption<\/strong>.\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\nFor their part, Herrera Velutini’s lawyers, Lilly Ann S\u00e1nchez and Christopher Kise<\/strong>, stated in written declarations that:\n\n\u201cMr. Herrera Velutini is deeply grateful to President Donald J. Trump for granting him the benevolent pardon and looks forward to moving on with his life and dedicating his time to his family and career.\u201d\n\nV\u00e1zquez Garced, 65 years old<\/strong>, had pleaded guilty in August 2025<\/strong> to a misdemeanor<\/strong> for violating campaign finance laws. According to the original indictment, he accepted the promise of an illegal donation<\/strong>, valued between $2,001 and $25,000<\/strong>, from a foreign citizen, Herrera Velutini.\n\n\n
