We are carrying out searches at several properties in Berkshire and Norfolk. The man remains in custody at this time. Due to national regulations, we will not give his name,\" states the statement.\n\nPreviously, the former prince had already been involved in similar scandals and accusations. Last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/mundo\/articles\/cr7817kvj40o\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Virginia Roberts Giuffre<\/a>, founder of the organization for survivors of human trafficking <em>Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (<\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.speakoutactreclaim.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>SOAR<\/em><\/a><em>),<\/em> presented accusations of sexual assault against him, stating that financier Jeffrey Epstein had trafficked her to Mountbatten-Windsor around 2001, when she was a teenager, and that the prince had sexual relations with her on several occasions.\n\nAndr\u00e9s never admitted his guilt, but Giuffre, who committed suicide shortly after, narrated in detail her forced encounters with the Duke of York in the book <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/book\/show\/193388653-nobody-s-girl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Nobody\u2019s Girl:&nbsp;<\/em><\/a><em>A Memoir Of Surviving Abuse And Fighting For Justice<\/em>\n\nWith the news, Virginia's family issued a statement to various media outlets: \"Our broken hearts have been comforted by the news that no one is above the law, not even royalty,\" her brother and sister-in-law pointed out. \"<strong>He was never a prince<\/strong>,\" they added.\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Royal Family's Stance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the police operation, his brother, King Charles III stated in an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.royal.uk\/news-and-activity\/2026-02-19\/a-statement-from-his-majesty-the-king\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">official statement released<\/a>&nbsp;by Buckingham Palace: \u201cI have received with deep concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and the suspicion of misconduct in a public office\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\u201cLet me be clear: <strong>the law must take its course.<\/strong> It would not be right for me to make any further comments on this matter.
