They are dreams that today become realities that positively impact our society,\" said the mayor.\n\nAmong those honored was Vice President Raquel Pe\u00f1a, who thanked for the distinction and valued the role played by Dominican women in the different areas of national life.\n\n\"Being here in Santiago, celebrating International Women's Day with so many valuable women, fills me with pride, but also with hope and commitment,\" said Pe\u00f1a.\n\nThe vice president also highlighted the growth experienced by the city of Santiago and valued the municipal management headed by Mayor Ulises Rodr\u00edguez, noting that the development of the city requires leadership and committed teams to respond to the demands of a constantly expanding population.\n\nMeanwhile, Deputy Mayor Mariana Moreno stated that the recognition constitutes an act of justice to the merit of women who have left their mark in different sectors, while Councilor Amarilis Baret, president of the Women's Commission of the Council of Councilors, indicated that the initiative seeks to highlight female leadership and its contribution to the development of the community.\n\nAmong those honored are Gloria Ascona, Dilenia Garc\u00eda, Hilda Dom\u00ednguez, Melanie Rodr\u00edguez, Carmen Georgina V\u00e9lez D\u00edaz, Yvette Ram\u00edrez, Petruska Mu\u00f1oz, Elizabeth Burgos de Dom\u00ednguez and Mar\u00eda Magdalena Alm\u00e1nzar, distinguished for their contributions in areas such as health, community leadership, institutional management and social service.\n\nAlso, Eladia \u201cTuti\u201d Cordero, Mirna L\u00f3pez, Teresa Morel Mora, Geanilda V\u00e1squez, Altagracia Moreno, Andrea Suero, Luz Brito, Victoria Altagracia Mart\u00ednez, Yanna Tavares and Olga Mar\u00eda Novoa Fern\u00e1ndez de Arocha, were recognized for their careers in education, communication, politics and community work.\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>You can also read:<a href=\"https:\/\/deultimominuto.net\/nacionales\/movimiento-vida-sin-violencia-advierte-que-69-de-las-mujeres-dominicanas-ha-sufrido-violencia\/\">Vida sin Violencia Movement warns that 69% of Dominican women have suffered violence<\/a><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\nThe list also included Antonia Rodr\u00edguez, Arbaluz P\u00e9rez, Tuti Almonte and Mercedes Capell\u00e1n, for their leadership in the business field, health, volunteering and social management, as well as a posthumous recognition to Adelia Guti\u00e9rrez for her legacy in the area of health.\n\nThe activity was attended by the president of the Council of Councilors, Cholo D\u2019 \u00d3leo;
