The Headquarters Agreement for this important event was signed in Chile by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto \u00c1lvarez and the Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Luis Fidel Y\u00e1\u00f1ez. Ministers of Foreign Affairs, other authorities and government representatives from member countries, as well as experts, will participate in this meeting to discuss the main economic, social and environmental challenges of the region.<\/p>\n\n\nDuring the signing ceremony, Chancellor \u00c1lvarez highlighted that the choice of the Dominican Republic as the venue for this session reflects ECLAC's confidence in the country and reaffirms the Dominican government's commitment to multilateralism, regional cooperation, and the promotion of policies<\/a> aimed at the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.\n\n\n

About ECLAC<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\nECLAC is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations that seeks to contribute to the economic development of Latin America and the Caribbean, coordinate actions aimed at its promotion and strengthen the economic relations of the countries among themselves and with the other nations of the world.\n\nThe ECLAC Session Period constitutes the main biennial meeting of this organization, in which the member states examine the progress in economic and social development, and define strategic orientations to strengthen regional cooperation.\n\nThe Dominican Republic currently holds one of the three vice presidencies of ECLAC and it is expected that after the celebration of the Session Period of this 2026, the country will assume the presidency of the organization for the period 2026\u20132028.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
