They act as climate regulators, produce oxygen, store carbon, and harbor a great diversity of animal and plant species. In addition, they are a source of livelihood for millions of people around the world.\n\nHowever, these ecosystems face serious challenges due to indiscriminate logging, forest fires, and agricultural expansion.
