However, the president chose to focus his speech on the significance of Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez's legacy.\n\n\n

\"I am not going to mention the merits of Dr. Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez, because those merits are abundant and known by a large part of the people,\" expressed Abinader.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Head of State highlighted the importance of the road, considered one of the main entrances to the city of Santo Domingo, and valued that it bears the name of the historic leader. \u201cQu\u00e9 better than to have the name of Dr. Jos\u00e9 Francisco Pe\u00f1a G\u00f3mez<\/strong>\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n\n\nThe act included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, in the month of the political leader's birth, as part of an initiative that seeks to pay tribute to his life dedicated to the defense of democracy and civil rights.\n\n\n
