\u201cIt is a complex challenge that, without a doubt, has had a transcendental impact on governance and that represents a turning point in the way we inform ourselves, communicate, and relate<\/strong>\u201d, the official pointed out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe minister was emphatic in pointing out that, although the deployment of resources and the harmonization of democratic principles are arduous tasks, the complexity of the digital age cannot be an excuse for inaction. He warned that contexts where laws are ignored or computer crimes are tolerated should not be fostered.\n\n\n

As part of the concrete actions carried out by the Dominican Republic, Peralta Romero highlighted that the Executive Branch is promoting a bill before the National Congress that seeks to regulate freedom of expression and digital media<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\nThe minister clarified that this initiative is strictly based on the democratic values and principles established in the Constitution. Likewise, he emphasized that the Dominican strategy is not limited to the legal, but includes: promotion of critical thinking, digital literacy from an early age and education as a fundamental pillar to mitigate the impact of fake news.\n\n
