More than a succession of pieces, the program was articulated as a story, as each work was introduced, contextualized and then performed, allowing the viewer to inhabit it from a broader dimension.

The evening of last Thursday, April 23rd, was led by tenor Enrique Pina, whose career uniquely combines art and cultural diplomacy. With training in Italy and performances on international stages —including performances in the Vatican and participation in important operatic concerts around the world—, Pina is included among the best tenors in the world in the book “Franco Corelli & A Revolution in Singing Fifty-Four Tenors Spanning 200 Years, volume 3”. His performance will be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to witness it at Dos Calles, Espacio Creativo.

With a voice of extraordinary power and nuances, Pina went through a program that went through opera arias, the repertoire in Spanish and the Neapolitan tradition with the authority of someone who knows each work from within and the generosity of someone who knows how to share it.

Gabriela García accompanied him on the piano, whose interpretative work provided the balance and sensitivity necessary for a repertoire that demanded technical precision and expressive depth.

The architect and cultural manager Gamal Michelén, current vice minister of Cultural Heritage, is a key figure in the development of cultural policies in the Dominican Republic and in the promotion of initiatives that seek to bring art closer to the citizenry. On this occasion, he introduced the program from a reflective dimension, enriching each piece based on its historical, symbolic, and aesthetic context with personal anecdotes, reflections from the everyday sphere, and a general culture that flowed effortlessly and that, however, proved to be revealing. Far from an academic or distant tone, his word was a bridge that brought the public closer to works that might have seemed unknown, and turned them into something of their own.

The event was hosted by Yamile Eusebio, executive director of the Conexión LiLeón Foundation, who welcomed those present and was in charge of the formal introduction of the evening.

This initiative was carried out with the support of the Conexión LiLeón Foundation, under the vision of Lidia León, whose work as an artist and manager has been oriented towards the creation of meeting spaces where art becomes a shared experience. Her work has been fundamental in the articulation of projects that connect sensitivity, thought, and community, generating open and contemporary cultural platforms.

We recommend reading: OGTIC drives the digital State with the delivery of the iTICge 2025 awards

Likewise, the concert was supported by Kahkow, a Dominican brand that has bet on the link between culture, identity and experience, integrating art as an essential part of its proposal.

The program included works by composers such as Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti, Charles Gounod and Giacomo Meyerbeer, as well as emblematic pieces from the Spanish repertoire and the Neapolitan tradition of Pablo Sorozábal, Gaetano Pennino, Pedro Elías Gutiérrez and Ernesto De Curtis.

Words that sing, voices that tell were presented, thus, as an experience that transcended the traditional format of the concert, proposing a space where listening also implied understanding, remembering and, above all, sharing.

SANTO DOMINGO.- Dos Calles, Espacio Creativo presented the didactic concert “Palabras que cantan, voces que cuentan”, a proposal that invites the public to approach music from a more conscious experience, where interpretation and the word intertwine to reveal the deep meaning of each work.
