Santo Domingo.- <\/strong>Dominican Republic formalized this Friday before the United Nations a contribution of 20 million dollars for the financial support that the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) will receive, which has begun to deploy in Haiti to combat the armed gangs that plague that nation.<\/p>\n\n\nThe country, bordering Haiti, will make an immediate contribution of 10 million dollars and a similar sum in 2027, reported the Dominican Foreign Ministry, in a document that accounts for the meeting today in New York of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Roberto \u00c1lvarez, with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Atul Khare.\n\nChancellor \u00c1lvarez, accompanied by the permanent representative of the Dominican Republic to the UN, Wellington Bencosme, reiterated to Khare the \"firm conviction\" of the Government of Dominican President Luis Abinader, to support \"decisively\" the efforts of the international community in favor of stability, security and development in Haiti.\n\n\"Durable peace in the neighboring nation is a strategic priority for the Dominican Republic and for the region as a whole,\" stated the Dominican foreign minister.\n\n\n

Solidarity and Leadership of the Dominican Republic<\/h3>\n\n\nFor his part, Khare thanked the solidarity and leadership demonstrated by the Dominican Republic, and highlighted the value of contributions like this for the effective functioning of the Trust Fund that the UN will implement for the sustainability of the GSF.\n\nOn April 1st, Haiti received the first troops, from Chad, of the Gang Suppression Force created in 2025 by the United Nations.\n\n\n
